Ride and Run for an Ovarian Cancer Cure!
The SummeRun holds a special place in my heart, as it was a yearly way to support my mom in her brave 5 year battle against ovarian cancer. We would get together as a team and run as "Deb's Curesader's". She was passionate about raising awareness for ovarian cancer.
For this years run I'm doing something a little different. On July 8th, I will be riding and running 30 miles along the Palouse to Cascades trail in honor of my mom, Debbie Kirchhauser. Her sense of adventure and passion for trying new things continues to inspire and motivate me. I will be posting updates on social media leading up to "race day".
We still do not have an early detection test for ovarian cancer! Please educate the women in your lives about the signs and symptoms: https://rivkin.org/ovarian-cancer/. Proceeds from the ride/run will support the life-saving work of the Rivkin Center.
The Rivkin Center is a Seattle-based non-profit that works to improve women’s health by helping them prevent, detect early, and survive ovarian and breast cancer. They do this by investing in cutting-edge research to prevent, detect, and cure ovarian cancer, a deadly and under-funded disease, educating women to prevent and detect ovarian and breast cancer as early as possible, and fostering an ever-growing community of survivors, patients, researchers, clinicians, advocates, and supporters.
Here are two ways that you can help me get one step closer to a cure for ovarian cancer:
1. Virtually participate in the 5k event and give hope to those undergoing treatment.
2. Help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation. Click on the "DONATE NOW" button to the right to show your support!
I'd be so grateful if you would join or sponsor me. Together, we can end ovarian cancer.
