Welcome to My Personal Page
I am participating in the SummeRun & Walk this year as part of my great niece Harper's team - Harper's Hope. Harper's grandmother (on her Mom's side) Marlys Cheney lost her life to ovarian cancer in December 2016. Harper's other grandmother (my sister-in-law) Susan is a 4 1/2 year survivor. I am a 22 year survivor. Harper's hope (and mine) is that we can find a way to detect this cancer early and ultimately a cure. In addition, I'm walking in memory of my friend Rosemary Blonk who lost her life to this terrible disease in March 2021.
Proceeds from the run and walk will support the life-saving work of the Rivkin Center. The Rivkin Center is a Seattle-based non-profit that works to improve women’s health by helping them prevent, detect early, and survive ovarian and breast cancer. They do this by investing in cutting-edge research to prevent, detect, and cure ovarian cancer, a deadly and under-funded disease, educating women to prevent and detect ovarian and breast cancer as early as possible, and fostering an ever-growing community of survivors, patients, researchers, clinicians, advocates, and supporters.
Here are two ways that you can help us get one step closer to a cure for ovarian cancer:
1. Virtually participate in the event with me and give hope to those undergoing treatment.
2. Help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation. Click on the "DONATE NOW" button to the right to show your support!
I'd be so grateful if you would join or sponsor me. Together, we can end ovarian cancer.
Do not forget to check out the amazing work done by the Rivkin Center - www.rivkin.org.
